History of the Osho Manjusha Meditation Center
1993 - a new beginning in Höckendorf / Ore Mountains
A new task is awaiting the fizzy creativity of the old team.
The project: to create a center
for silent meditation in east Germany. Four people
have remained who were willing to go for it: Mahamudra, Dharma,
Tamanna and Pragati. Some little money was left and an old
house was bought cheaply and renovated. Welcome in the former
GDR! Initial problems with a remaining doctor's surgery in
the house, the weather and the broken roof could be solved
in the end.
First monthly, then more often, it was possible to take part in Vipassana
weekends. A yearly bigger retreat took place. Slowly, the commune
grew and the house became too small, additional
flats had to be rented. Suddenly, the 4 people from the beginning
turned into 24. The center offered a varied programme and the big
festivities in spring, summer and winter were initiated.
The New Dawn Meditation Center in Dresden was established.
First in rented rooms in the northern part of Dresden-Neustadt.
In 1998, Mahamudra presented us her vision of "Komm in die Sonne"(Come into the sun): A new, bigger place had to be found for the Manjusha.

1999 - entering Schmiedeberg/ Ore Mountains
The new place should remain in the Erzgebirge/Ore Mountain and should offer enough space for meditation: including 50 habitants and 50 guests in the future. The appropriate estate with meadows, forest, stream and pond was found in Schmiedeberg, at the end of the villlage, with fantastic neighbours in a nature reserve.
In 1999, the usual outfit of every commune member consisted of building clothes for tearing down old buildings and forthcoming renovations, commuting between the old and the new place.Move to Schmiedeberg in October. Finally - more space! But everything is different now: longer ways, the commune is under change, more publicity and more and more people coming to visit.
For some old ones too fast, for many new ones
THE chance, the potential paradise on earth for their further
spritiual development. Mahamudra with her presence, the vision of
a big lively commune, space for learning, creativity, professional
work and freedom - all at once here and now, 24 hours a day,
365 days a year.
The housing cooperative "Sun" e.G. is founded...
